Accessibility Statement

Crime Watch Box builds infrastructure that helps people reach help. That mission extends to this website: we want everyone, including people who use assistive technology, to be able to learn about our products, read our resources, and contact us without barriers.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a finished state, and we review the site against this target as we add and revise pages.

Measures we've taken

This site is built with accessibility as part of the design system, not an afterthought. Measures include:

  • Semantic HTML. Pages use proper landmarks, heading hierarchy, lists, and navigation elements so screen readers can interpret structure correctly.
  • Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements — menus, tabs, accordions, and forms — are operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator that is never removed and a skip-to-content link on every page.
  • Color contrast. Text and interactive elements are designed to meet AA contrast ratios on both dark and light backgrounds.
  • Reduced motion support. Animations and transitions respect the operating system's "reduce motion" preference and are effectively disabled when it's set.
  • Descriptive text. Meaningful images and illustrations carry text alternatives; purely decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Responsive layout. Pages remain usable at high zoom levels and across screen sizes, with touch targets sized for reliable use.

Known limitations

Some illustrative graphics on the site are complex scenes; we describe them at a summary level rather than element by element. If any content is unclear or unusable with your assistive technology, we want to know about it.
